Veteran's Day Display

Here is the Veteran's Display!  It has over 70 pictures of men and women who have served our country.  Thank you to our veterans!  This morning we announced all the names and also the names of the students related to the veterans.  It was a lot of names, but very heart-warming! :)

Veteran's Day

Wow, what a great day to honor our veterans especially with the fun date of 11-11-11!  We have an awesome display in our rotunda that shows pictures of relatives of students and staff at Clay Elementary who have served in the military.  Each picture is detailed with name, rank, wars served, and relationship to Clay Elementary.  This morning at 8:50 all students will gather in the rotunda to honor the veterans.  We will announce each veteran's name and student/staff name.  In addition, we will ALL say the Pledge of Allegiance together.  We will try to video and post it for all to see...it will be cool!

I would like to focus on a Digital-Age Learning Culture to improve student achievement at Clay Elementary.   Providing learner-centered environments with technology to meet the diverse needs of students is a necessity.  Kids at a YOUNG age are surrounded by technology, in which they are comfortable using and can learn.  There are situations where students teach themselves skills from the use of technology.  As for teachers, I want them to focus on continuous improvement through the use of technology.  Students are more engaged in the learning environment when technology is used appropriately.
